How do you handle the lifestyle of a chef???

I love my work. I have been in this business for almost 15 years and have finally worked my way up the food chain to an Exeutive Sous position at a great restaurant. I love what I do, and I have a passion for the food that I create. The downside, however, is that 2 years ago I got married to a woman with a "normal" life. The bad part about working your way up the ladder is that its all night work and "normal" lives no longer exist. We just found out we are pregnant and now, after sitting back and examining the situation, I am starting to second guess my chosen lifestyle. How much of my child's life am I going to miss working all nights and weekends? Can anyone help me with this situation. How did other chefs handle this? Thanks
